LOCKRACK LEADERSHIP TEAM
HEAD OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & LOCKRACK FOUNDER
Roger started his association with the sea and ocean paddling, as both a volunteer & professional lifesaver in the early “70”s in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where he was born and went on to represent both the East Cape & Western Province in surf lifesaving. In addition, he was a provincial swimmer and water polo player for Eastern Province, as well as being an age group rugby player for Western Province. He has lived in Cape Town, in the Western Cape, for the last 30 years and enjoys recreational wave ski, kayak and surf ski paddling along both the Atlantic seaboard and False Bay coasts, as well as during his trips to the Transkei Wild Coast, California, British Columbia, Mauritius, Thailand, New Zealand and Barbados.
In 2007, while meeting mates for an early morning surf, he realized they had been tying down their surfboards to roof racks in exactly the same way for over 25 years. Given this tedious task, it struck Brad that there had to be a better way. Always a tinkerer and innovator, Brad loved finding solutions to problems. This gave birth to the patented LOCKRACK System later that same year. Originally designed for surfboards, the system was soon adapted for his other watercraft. Although a surfing accident resulting in a fractured neck ended his surfboard riding days he was soon back in the ocean on his new passion Stand Up Paddleboarding (LOCKRACK is ideal for this sport.)
He can often be found surfing his Naish SUP in and around Durban or at his home town of Umdloti Beach where he resides with his son and daughter. He also frequently does over country trips into Mozambique where he is able to test the LOCKRACK System to the extreme.
